Don’t you just love it when a client comes into your salon and says, “My friend gets her hair done in another salon and she looks amazing. Can you do the same?” The question I want to ask is ‘why is this client not knocking on her friend’s hairdresser’s door instead of mine?’ Let’s face it. How am I going to know what her friend’s hair looks like? In fact, how am I going to know what her friend looks like? Maybe her friend does look amazing, even without the hair style or colour. Consultation is so important do get the client to fully get across what she wants but that does not mean that the image of how she wants to look is the same as the image that you have in your head. At least when a client displays a picture of an eighteen year old before you and says, “can you make me look like that?” you can point out that it might have been possible a few years back or if the client before you was good looking enough to be a model, maybe. But what the hell! We are hairdressers, surly the impossible isn’t that hard to do. Is it? Anybody ever asked you to know what they are thinking? Share it with us and write in.
